Analysis of damages and victims produced by Weather Events in the USA
Using the data provided by the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration´s (NOAA) storm database we determine which types of weather events cause the most fatalities, injuries, and economic damages. The data used is from 1996 to 2011 given that the directive regarding the collection and classification of weather events previous to 1996 has changed drastically. The analysis results tell us that floods, hurricanes/typhoons and storm surges are the ones that cost the most money in damages. On the other hand tornados, excessive heat and floods took the most victims.
