This analysis examines long-term reproductive data from Harvard Forest to compare masting sugar maple (Acer saccharum) and non-masting red maple (Acer rubrum). Using flower counts, samara production, and seed data from 2011 onward, the study highlights differences in reproductive dynamics, demonstrating clear, synchronized peaks for sugar maple versus irregular, muted output for red maple. Limitations due to missing data are also discussed.
