In this lab, I used U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) data to explore social and economic patterns across counties in Mississippi. The goal of this analysis is to understand differences in graduate degree and employment across counties, and to visualize these patterns using both static and interactive graphics. This project also demonstrates how different types of data (percentages vs. raw counts) require different visualization approaches. I created three main outputs: a static margin-of-error plot, an interactive version of the same plot, and a map visualization to show geographic patterns in employment.
Lab 4_ Part B
This project uses interactive maps to explore tornado activity across Oklahoma from 2016 to 2021. Using the leaflet basemap, the maps provide geographic context with satellite imagery, which helps make patterns easier to recognize compared to a plain background. The goal is to understand where tornadoes are most concentrated across counties and how their locations vary over time.
Lab 4-Part A
This project uses a series of maps to explore the spatial patterns of tornado paths and tornado locations across counties in Oklahoma from 2016 to 2021. The goal is to better understand how tornado activity varies both geographically and over time, and to identify any noticeable regional trends across different counties. Instead of only looking at tabular data, mapping the tornado points and paths makes it much easier to see where events are concentrated and how they are distributed across the state. These maps also help highlight differences between counties that experience more frequent or intense activity versus those with fewer events.
Lab 3- Broadband Data
This report explores broadband access across Mississippi counties from 2015 to 2023. The goal of the analysis is to examine how broadband access varies across counties, how it changes over time, and how it relates to educational attainment.
Lab 3
This report explores broadband access across Mississippi counties from 2015 to 2023. The goal of the analysis is to understand how broadband access varies across counties, how it changes over time, and how it relates to education levels.
