Flight Codeshare Analysis
This analysis explores codeshare flights originating from Calgary International Airport (YYC). A codeshare agreement allows multiple airlines to share the same flight, which can affect the number of airlines operating on a given route. By analyzing these codeshare routes, we aim to understand the most common routes, the airlines involved, and the flight patterns from YYC. This is an important analysis for gaining insights into flight connectivity and the structure of air travel from Calgary. Key Objectives: 1. Identification of Top Codeshare Routes: The analysis begins by identifying the most popular codeshare routes from YYC, which are routes shared by multiple airlines. This will help us uncover the most frequented destinations from Calgary and understand the overall network structure. 2. Flight Frequency and Airline Diversity: For each route, we count the number of codeshare flights and the number of unique airlines participating in the codeshare agreement. By doing so, we can evaluate the level of airline collaboration on each route and highlight routes with the most frequent codeshare flights. 3. Visualizing Flight Patterns: Through interactive visualizations such as bar charts and flight path maps, we present the distribution of top routes and codeshare flight traffic. The flight paths are shown with different color palettes to represent flight density or other metrics, allowing stakeholders to visually assess the relationships between airlines, destinations, and route popularity. 4. Exploring the Role of Codeshare in Airline Networks: We explore how codeshare agreements facilitate flight connectivity and increase travel options for passengers. This is particularly valuable for understanding the collaboration among airlines, especially those in global airline alliances.
