What’s Driving the Cost-of-Living Crisis?
This data-driven slideshow uses Consumer Price Index (CPI) data from 1972 to 2025 to examine the major causes of Australia's cost-of-living crisis. It displays the most recent category-wise CPI distribution, post-2015 price spikes, and long-term inflation patterns through interactive visualizations. With an emphasis on necessities like food, housing, and transportation, the research provides a clear understanding of how inflation disproportionately affects key living expenses. This project, which was constructed using open data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, intends to influence data storytelling techniques, economic awareness, and policy.
