I was curious about the "EU Referendum Rules triggering a 2nd EU Referendum" petition visible at https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/131215. I started downloading the petition data every 10 mins from 10 am on Sat 25th June 2016 and later upped the rate to every 2 mins. This presents a simple analysis. You will be able to do more if you want using the data.
John Bohannon published an article and analysis of download data from SciHub in Science (http://science.sciencemag.org/content/352/6285/508). Bohannon noted that the single largest download city in the US was Ashburn, VA with 96,857 downloads in the 6 months through February 2016. There was some speculation in the article and on Twitter that this might originate from HHMI Janelia Research Campus, but this appears not to be the case.
