EPA Player Grades
This analysis identifies running backs (RBs) and wide receivers (WRs) who gain more valuable yards than expected I achieved this by modeling Expected Points Added (EPA) as a function of yards gained. The residual from this model for each player's touch represents their impact, with their average residual serving as their overall rating.
Expected Points Play Calling
My analysis demonstrates that consistently calling plays with a higher expected EPA results in a greater accumulation of points over the course of a game. While the impact may not be apparent on every individual play, adopting an analytics-driven approach based on EPA is ultimately beneficial for long-term offensive success.
