Understanding Party Realignment
This project examines patterns of voter party affiliation shifts in North Carolina from 2016 to 2024. By analyzing voter registration data across ten diverse counties, the study identifies demographic predictors (e.g., gender, race, age) influencing switches to Republican, Democrat, or Unaffiliated status. The goal is to uncover trends in party realignment, such as generational divides, racial dynamics, and growing dissatisfaction with traditional parties, and to assess their implications for political strategies and voter engagement.
