Resampling Demo — 1st pass
This is a half-baked attempt to demonstrate resampling by hand.
imp-cat-01-check-stim
A quick analysis of a comparison between sensitivity to frequency and orientation in Gabor patches. I am Ss 1 and 2. If you guys have any chance to run more Ss, that would be great. If you run Ss, they'll be run under the same version of the study as S2.
Gabor Orientation Scaling
This is a quick analysis of data from a Steven's scaling experiment for the orientation of a Gabor patch. Currently the frequency is held constant, but the phase varies "randomly" from trial to trial.

Above Average
On 26 February 2015, Mike Pesca said that most bears cannot be smarter than the average bear, “that’s a tautology.” It is not. It is a property of the mean and symmetric distributions. If a distribution is asymmetric (also known as skewed), most of the data points in that distribution can be greater or less than the mean.
Simulated Transition to Gen Ed
The simulation suggests that we can dramatically reduce the number of initial mis-classifications if the opt-in vs. opt-out decision is made based on class level. Some proportion of initial mis-classifications are going to become time-consuming issues for staff and faculty. We can likely reduce the number of time-consuming issues that staff and faculty have to deal with by taking class-level into account when deciding whether students should have to opt out or opt in.

Bell vs. Bayes: The Showdown…
A description of why Bell's made-up-on-the-spot approximation to Bayes Rule worked for the in-class examples on Thursday.

Target of Hate by Gender

Climate Change (1998-2013)
A friend told me that NOAA's data indicated that global temperatures had been decreasing since 1998. He said that if I checked NOAA's website, I would see that he was correct. I too my best shot at confirming his claim and came up with this.
